Most Narratives Begin With A Short Story

A recipient of a 1998 New York Foundation of the Arts Fiction Fellowship, Elizabeth England has had stories appear in the Nebraska Review, North Atlantic Review, Berkshire Review and the Connecticut Review. She won Ohio State University’s The Journal’s 2007 short story contest as well as Inkwell Magazine’s 2001 short fiction competition where the winning story was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. An excerpt from a longer piece appeared in the 2011 issue of FictionNow. Her story “First Girl” was reprinted in the Writers Studio 30 Anthology, published by Epiphany Editions in Spring 2017. Elizabeth’s story “Bruised People” was shortlisted for New Rivers Press’ American Fiction Short Story Award and was published in their New and Emerging Writers Anthology, Volume 16. Additionally, Elizabeth was a William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition Finalist, and most recently she was a winner in Hallard Press’ Covid-19 Short Story Contest. A content strategist as well as a college consultant and essay coach, Elizabeth lives with her family in New York City and spends any free moment honing her craft.
